The difference between blower and induced draft fan

In industrial production and ventilation systems, blowers and induced draft fans are common equipment that have certain similarities in function and structure, but also have obvious differences. 1、 Different working principles

Blower: By rotating the impeller, air is sucked in from the center of the impeller and discharged towards the edge of the impeller, forming an airflow. The direction of this airflow is the same as the rotation direction of the impeller, so it is called blowing.

Induced draft fan: also generates airflow through the rotation of the impeller, but the direction of the airflow is opposite to the rotation direction of the impeller. The induced draft fan utilizes the negative pressure generated by the impeller to suck in air from the outside and guide it towards the designated position.

2、 Different application scenarios

Fan: mainly used in situations where air flow needs to be blown in a certain direction, such as ventilation and dust removal in factories and mines. A blower can generate high air pressure and is suitable for long-distance gas transportation.

Induced draft fan: mainly used in situations where air needs to be sucked in from the outside and guided to flow, such as flue gas emissions and ventilation in boilers and kilns. The induced draft fan focuses more on the flow rate and velocity of the airflow, and is suitable for short distance ventilation.

3、 Different performance characteristics

Fan: With high air pressure and large air volume, suitable for high-pressure air supply systems. Its structure is relatively compact and easy to install.

Induced draft fan: With a large flow rate and low static pressure, suitable for low-pressure ventilation systems. Its structure is relatively complex and requires consideration of gas flow velocity and pressure loss.
